No Such Thing as Too Many Cooks in the Kitchen

 

Series of Youth Cooking Classes Offered


The Neighborhood House will be offering a series of four cooking classes for children in grades 5+ starting November 27 and meeting on Mondays through December 18. The classes are intended to provide kids who might not be participating in winter sports at school and feel a little too old for other after school activities with a fun way to keep themselves busy and learn some valuable skills along the way. Each class will be lead by a familiar adult from within our community.

Classes will begin at 3:30, and participants are welcomed to hop aboard our 15-passenger bus for transportation from school to The Neighborhood House. Each class will run approximately 60 minutes.


Monday, November 27

 
 

Chef Tasha Higgins will lead the group through assembling their own sushi along with egg rolls.


Monday, December 4

 
 

Chef Eliza Bishop from Milk & Honey will teach the kids how to create their own “Pop Tarts” from scratch.


Monday, December 11

 
 

Chef Maude Kusserow and crew from Salt Market will teach the kids the ins and outs of cookie decorating, just in time for the holidays!


Monday, December 18

 
 

Our own Executive Director and skilled home chef, Anne-Marie Hart will teach the kids how to throw together an easy dinner of pan fried “chicken fingers” with dipping sauces and a salad.




Students can register for individual classes, or all four. The suggested fee is $15 per class, but if that amount doesn’t fit into your family’s budget we’re fine with a lesser amount which does. Advanced sign-up is required so that we can have the appropriate amount of supplies. You can register via phone at 276-5039, or email us to let us know which classes you’re child is interested in.
