Help Us Solve the "Clock Caper"
The clock with it’s triangular trim piece just before it was removed for repair this fall
“We have a bit of a mystery to solve, and that’s where we could use your help!”
You might have heard that thanks to some generous private funding, the clock on the side of The Neighborhood House is being refurbished just in time for the building’s 115th year. The clock was removed from its perch a few weeks ago and will be refurbished and restored right here on MDI. In the spring it will be returned better than new.
We have a bit of a mystery to solve, and that’s where we could use your help! The original clock featured a decorative piece of trim at the top (see photo below). At some point (likely when siding was placed on the building about 30 years ago) that ornate trim piece was removed and replaced with just a simple triangle. If possible, we would love to recreate that long lost piece.
The clock with the original piece of trim along the top which is a bit hard to make out. If you have other photos or memories to share, we’d appreciate the help!
If you think you have a photo taken at The Neighborhood House showing the clock with this original detail (likely from the 1980s or earlier), we would love to take a look! Or perhaps you just have a memory of what adorned the top of the clock. Either way, we would love to hear from you.
We’re looking forward to re hanging the clock this spring and know the end result will be beautiful. Including an accurate re-creation of this last bit of detail would truly put it over the top. If you have a photo or information to share, feel free to stop by, give us a call at 276-5039, or shoot us an email.
In the meantime, we hope you can join us for any of the numerous activities and celebrations planned throughout the upcoming winter months.
