The Neighborhood House
The Neighborhood House has been many things to many people since its doors opened in 1905. In those hundred-plus years, the Town of Mount Desert has certainly gone through a plethora of change, as too has The Neighborhood House itself. One thing that has remained the same, however, is the mission of The Neighborhood House and the important role it plays within our community.
The vaudeville performances and bowling lanes from years past may have long since been superseded by community celebrations, yoga classes, and the like; but the spirit with which it was founded remains the same. In fact, today, The Neighborhood House offers more programs and events than it has at any other point in its long history.
SUMMER CAMP IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER!
Our 2017 Summer Camp season for kids form pre-school to middle school kicks off for an eight week season starting on Monday, June 26. Camp runs Monday thru Friday from 9am until 4pm, with a half-day (9-1) option available for our youngest participants. We have kept our rates unchanged over previous years and our "Campership" program is available to help make a fun filled summer fit into every family's budget. BASH AT THE BOATYARD
Our summer fundraiser is a fun and laid back way to show your support for The Neighborhood House. This year's festivities are set for Thursday, July 13 at Abel's Boatyard along Somes Sound and will once again feature the talented musicians of MDIHS as well as amazing bites by Bar Harbor Catering Co. As always, we'll have an incredible silent auction featuring an abundance of unique items from local craftspeople and merchants... and much, much, more.
