Just because we've reached the "unofficial" end of summer, things certainly aren't winding down on the End of Main Street. NHH has a wide array of programs and offerings we're gearing up to offer throughout the upcoming fall and winter months.
As always, if you have any ideas or suggestions, please feel free to stop by or email us. Also, if you haven't had the opportunity to stop by and see our recently completed building renovations, you have an open invitation (We can't wait to utilize these spaces with new and existing programs)!
Familiar Faces in New Places!
The Board of Directors and Staff of The Neighborhood House is excited to welcome new Board President, Scott McFarland.
Scott has played an active role on the NHH Board for several years, and we are all very much looking forward to the opportunity to work with him in his new role as Board President.
Scott serves as Principal of Mt. Desert Elementary School, so the strong relationship he already has with families within our community, along with his experience and knowledge, will be a great asset to us as we continue to strive to meet the needs of all members of our community with a unique and valuable collection of program and event offerings.
Fall Favorites for Kids
School is back in session, and that means two familiar NHH Programs have returned for another season...
The After School Youth Club is back, and open to all MDES students in Kindergarten and above starting on Tue., Sept. 6. This popular non-custodial program runs Mon-Thu., after school until 5pm. Transportation to NHH, snack, and planned activities are offered. A handout with further information will be sent home with each MDES student this week.
Registration forms may be picked up at the NHH Main office, or printed out HERE.
Kids in grades K-6 can get a "kick" out of our Youth Soccer program, with practices starting the week of Sept. 12. Kindergarten players will practice Mondays, 3:30-4pm. Players in the 1st/2nd, 3rd/4th, and 5th/6th grade divisions will all practice on Tuesdays & Thursdays, from 3:30-4:30pm. The registration fee is $20/child, or $30/family, and forms are available at NHH. If you are interested in assisting with the program as a volunteer coach or assistant, please contact us at 276-5039.
Fall Fitness
Fall is just around the corner, and if you've been too busy (or busy enjoying the sunshine) during the summer to stay active, now's the perfect time to get back into the swing of things!
As always, the Community Fitness Room is open 7 days a week, 5am-10pm, and memberships are available for just $30 a month. Additionally, we'll be rolling out a new class schedule in the coming months:
- Zumba Gold: Mon/Wed 8-9am
- Indoor Cycling: Wed @ 6am, & Tue/Wed/Thu @ 3:30pm
- Active Older Adults: Tue/Thur 1pm
- Hatha Yoga: Tue 5:30pm
- Vinyassa Yoga: Tue/Sat 9am
