The Neighborhood House
The Neighborhood House has been many things to many people since its doors opened in 1905. In those hundred-plus years, the Town of Mount Desert has certainly gone through a plethora of change, as too has The Neighborhood House itself. One thing that has remained the same, however, is the mission of The Neighborhood House and the important role it plays within our community.
The vaudeville performances and bowling lanes from years past may have long since been superseded by community celebrations, yoga classes, and the like; but the spirit with which it was founded remains the same. In fact, today, The Neighborhood House offers more programs and events than it has at any other point in its long history.
Three Summer Events for the Entire Family!
Thursday, July 17: Magic Show Featuring Norman Ng
Join Neighborhood House and the Northeast Harbor Library, as we welcome the amazing Norman Ng for a FREE performance. Show starts at 6:00pm, and is free to all ages.
Tuesday, July 29: "Everybody Loves Pirates"
The award-winning Frogtown Mountain Puppeteers will perform this hilarious high-seas themed show, beginning at 6:00pm in the gymnasium at the Mt. Desert Elementary School. Admittance is free (donations kindly accepted) for this all-ages show that you won't want to miss!
Thursday, August 7: NHH Bike Parade
Dust off your bike, scooter, wagon, or skateboard, and join us for this summer tradition! Starting at 5:30, we'll provide all sorts of cool stuff to decorate your "wheels" with, and the parade will start at 6:00pm. We'll wrap everything up with ice cream sundaes on the lawn!
