Anchors Aweigh! A Special Presentation by the MDI Community Sailing Center
In 1981, Phyllis Aschenbrenner and Tom Perkins crossed the Atlantic Ocean in a 29' trimaran, competing in a race from Plymouth, England to Newport, RI, with 125 other vessels. In the first week, the fifth gale took out 20% of the fleet, and Phyllis and Tom wondered if they should turn back, too. Their radio had stopped working, and there was no way they could predict what would happen next-- hitting a whale, destroying the keel, and going three full days without a sun sight (pre-GPS!) Phyllis and Tom will be on hand with a slide-show and discussion about their epic adventure. Organized & Sponsored by the MDI Community Sailing Center. Suggested Donation: $5
